PRESCRIPTION PEELS

A chemical peel is also known as chemical exfoliation. It is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, décolleté, back or hands. There is a lot of research outlining the anti-ageing benefits of chemical peels, whereby a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off, revealing new, rejuvenated skin.

Peels vary in strength and the type of acid used and therefore the number of treatments needed to deliver optimal results and the associated downtime of the treatment, will depend on the strength of the peel and the acid used.

When applied to the skin, light / medium chemical peels can cause a burning / stinging sensation, but do not cause a great deal of pain.

After the treatment, there may be slight redness, irritation, swelling and peeling, but this is completely normal and the skin will repair itself with the help of recommended aftercare products.
